how to adapt crochet pattern for different yarn weight fundamentals

A crocheted afghan is a great gift for family and friends. Many people, when hearing the word crochet, instantly conjure the image of an elderly woman sitting in a chair, crochet hook held firmly in arthritic fingers as she concocts another table doily.

Crochet instructions can be written out in abbreviations, presented as symbols, or can be a combination of both. Once you have learnt these stitching types you will see for yourself that how many different designs you would be able to create without having to consult others for your own creativity. If looking at diagrams on the Internet, keep a mirror next to your monitor.

If you've been following along, you will know that I never recommend starting a project that is too advanced when you are a beginner. The official Crochet Guild of America features lessons as well as crochet ideas for new learners. You can find a crochet baby pattern for a variety of crochet designs online and in local craft stores.

You will find everything from Afghans, baby clothes, bookmarks, dolls, pillows and much more. Better safe than sorry; buy enough yarn to complete you project and if you re unsure it s better to have too much than not enough. It was something that I could learn to do that could be useful in the future.

Most of all, have fun and relax. There are some great resources out there.
